At Sta-home, hospice is a very personal service. We develop a special plan of care for each patient, together with their doctor and family, to enhance their quality of life as they face the difficult trial of living in the advanced stages of incurable disease. Our diverse hospice team of nurses, certified aides, social workers, and a chaplain, brings a wide breadth of services that not only provide physical comfort to our patients but also help foster spiritual peace and emotional support to both patients and family members.

Typically, hospice care is prescribed by the patient’s primary physician and carried out by a diverse hospice team from an agency of the patient’s choosing, like Sta-home Health & Hospice. Hospice is a family-centered process, and patients and family members are heavily involved in decision-making. In fact, a family member usually becomes the primary caregiver.
Sta-home’s hospice teams meet every two weeks to evaluate the condition of their patients and make adjustments as necessary.

Debbie Pierce, Administrative Assistant, has a fellow caregiver who will never forget one particular act of kindness: When her patient needed a vital medication no local pharmacy had, she could neither leave him alone to pick it up herself, or arrange to have it delivered. Debbie volunteered her time and gas money to bring the medicine to the patient herself—over 100 miles round trip. |
